Rules for Riding
To help ensure a pleasant ride, please observe the following rules and riding tips. It will make your trip (as well as everyone else’s) more enjoyable:
- Please be courteous when using a cellular phone by keeping conversations to a minimum volume level. This way, you avoid disturbing the operator and other passengers.
- Save the front seats for passengers with special needs, such as senior citizens or individuals with disabilities.
- Please do not smoke, drink, or eat.
- Please turn off your radio/CD player. Headphones are fine. We want you to enjoy your music. But not everyone wants to enjoy your music.
- Yelling or using profanity will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the bus.
- Please do not have a distracting conversation with the bus operator.
- Please use care when carrying items such as umbrellas or large packages.
- Check your seat area for your belongings before exiting.
No Weapons Policy
The possession or carrying of dangerous weapons on all Triangle bus system vehicles, property, or property leased for business is strictly prohibited. “Dangerous weapon” is defined as any object or device designed or intended to cause injury to persons or property. This policy shall exclude on duty law enforcement officers, or personnel hired for the purpose of security.
Title VI Civil Rights Discrimination Complaints
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in programs and activities receiving Federal financial assistance. Specifically, Title VI provides that “no person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” Note that Title VI does not address gender discrimination. It only covers race, color and national origin. Other Civil Rights laws prohibit gender discrimination.
If you believe you have received discriminatory treatment by any of the GoTriangle partner transit agencies on the basis of your race, color or national origin, you have the right to file a complaint with that agency’s Title VI Coordinator. The complaint must be filed no later than 180 calendar days after the alleged discriminatory incident.
Contact the GoTriangle Information Center (919-485-7433) and tell the customer service representative that you would like to file a “Title VI” or “Civil Rights” complaint. You will be referred to the correct agency’s Title VI Coordinator.
